Info
For the Reverse Engineering Project, we designed and constructed a Cycloidal Gearbox. The primary constraints on this project were the tools and resources available within the Lower DRG as well as an additional $30 in materials. Additionally, we only had 10 class periods to work on the project and had to plan our time accordingly. For the purposes of this project, we designed the gearbox in Onshape and manufactured it using CNC Routers. The mechanism was mostly effective, but it is a little bit tight and hard to spin to imperfect tolerances. Despite this, the functionality of the mechanism remains intact and it is capable of doing the intended task of reducing speed from an input shaft and increasing its torque into the output shaft. Overall, we achieved most of the criteria we sought out to achieve and adhered to every constraint, so we would consider the project a success as a whole.
